Amusing Muses

Trawling the net for blogs to give you inspiration, I stumbled across Alberta and Ava's blog: Amusing Muses and fell in love with their quirky take on life, and their gorgeous artwork. Here is what they say about themselves
We're Ava and Alberta: sisters, teachers, and artists. We've been dreaming together since we jumped off our chest of drawers, believing we could fly. Our closet became our spaceship, a magnolia tree our secret castle, and our grandmother's garden our enchanted kingdom. Our mother taught us the joy of creating and the art of nonsense. We learned embroidery on our grandmother's front porch and heard bedtime stories about sirens and gorgons and panthers stalking the woods at midnight. We believe in magic and silliness, in sisters and dreams, in lavender silk dresses and bottle trees, but, most of all, we believe in the strength of the creative spirit. We still believe we can fly.
I think their work speaks for themselves,so please go and have a look, get inspired, and learn to fly!

Getting stylish with Carole..

I have also heard the phrase 'working in Jansonesque' style... and this is one phrase I often use!
I would like to wish you all a very Merry Christmas, as I'm posting this on Christmas Eve.. mainly because I'd forget if I didn't!!

The blog I would like to point you in the direction of this evening belongs to the fantabulous scrapbooker Carole Janson. Carole's work is absolutely fantastic and to say I love it is a very big understatement! I personally had never seen work like it before. I admit I don't do alot of scrapbooking, but the techniques that Carole uses can be adapted to cardmaking - in fact, looking through her blog you may even find the odd card dotted around..

Here are a few of her beautiful layouts

Browsing through Carole's blog, you will also find altered items that have been prettied up!

I don't really know where to start telling you why I love this project - so just observe and love!

Here's the close up. I just absolutely love the way Carole layers up the flowers and 3D elements in her designs.

Delightful to look at . . .

. . . and I'm sure they would be lovely to own! These adorable cards by Sarah are just precious!

This pink and brown card is especially cute, and I'm really partial to that wonderful pink felt border!

Don't you just love this birthday card with the spring-y colors and layers with stitching? It would be such a treat to receive!

How elegant is this one in the robins egg blue and brown?

And my favorite of all is this adorable card with the birdies and all those tiny buttons across the bottom. Gotta love that big pink bow, too!

Because I'm Me quilt

Jody of Because I'm Me made this totally adorable quilt.
I'm especially impressed with the fun way she continued some of the bricks from the front design on the back. Why not have a back that's as lovely as the front? I love these colors, and I'm really hopeing this easy, but darling quilt pushes someone over the edge into quilting. You really would be the star of the baby shower with a quilt like this.

Speaking of babies Jody also has a new baby over on her blog, so don't miss seeing that. The baby is even MORE adorable than this quilt!

Louise's stunning 'ocean treasure'.

Isn't this altered matchbox just stunning! Louise's blog is one of my favourite places to stop for inspiration and her creative passion never ceases to amaze me. Click here to see her beautiful canvases and other amazing altered items.

Scrap-tastic!!!

Hi everyone.

I wanted to share this brilliant scrapbooker and cardmaker with you last week, but I haven't been very well. Anyway... here it is at last.. lol.

This fantastic blog belongs to the lovely Lythan. For me, as a person who has lots of empty scrapbooks and no pages in them, this is a site I often go to to look for inspiration.

Lythan is a great cardmaker too - which is why I am nominating this site today. Her craft talents are extraordinary. Lythan's use of papers, journalling, doodling combine to make a perfect page or card.

I just love the colours on this layout. They are bright, but not too overpowering. The different textures on this page are great too! Just look at the doodling! Fantastic!

This page is the one that inspires me most! There are more details on Lythan's blog on how to create the photograph effect. I just absolutely adore it!

I hope you go and take a look at this great blog .. although, be warned, you will need to fill up your pot of tea before you start! There are a few years worth of entries to help you spend your day browsing and 'aaahh-ing'

Thank you so much to Lythan for letting me feature her work.

Love to all,

Jo x

Kim's Vintage Christmas

In the interest of full disclosure I should tell you that Kim is one of my very best friends. But that is NOT why I'm featuring her today!

LOOK:

I was BLOWN AWAY when I visited her blog today and saw these vintage Christmas Cards. I really can't stop looking at them. Kim used artwork she found in a thrift store to make these. I'm totally blown away. I'll admit I rarely think to look for artwork to use like this. And she added just the right embelishments to really make each one delicious.
To see more from Kim (You won't believe this snowman she did yesterday) check out her blog Running On Ink.
and if anyone sees a collection of art like this at their thrift store I'd like you to buy it for me! haha.

A merry little Christmas-time

Wow! There's nothing more I can say about this blog...

I have been a fan of Marlene's for quite a while now, so I was honoured when she said I could feature her on here. You can always guarantee to be inspired by one of her projects.

I absolutely love this card because of the colours - so Christmassy and everything co-ordinates.
Again, the colours on this card coordinate so well. The different elements are great aswell and the colouring.. well, what can I say? Just look at his little cheeks!
Last but not least.. jewellery. Another thing I love to do when I get the chance, but mine never look like this.

A lady of many talents, I'm sure you'll agree! So go take a look over at Marlene's blog to get your inspiration flowing.. Enjoy!

A Delightful Discovery

I discovered Cindy's blog "The Creative Closet" just a few weeks ago, and I immediately loved her gorgeous creations and the sweet way she tells about everything she's posting, and about what's going on in her life. The card that really got my attention was this one >>>
At first glance it looks so simple and elegant, but when you start looking at all the elements and layers, you soon realize it's not as simple as all that! My favorite thing is the recurring pearls throughout, and how they pick up on the 'swiss dots' embossed paper.

Another favorte is this sweet little thing >>>

Don't you just love that precious stamp, and the colors she used throughout? And I love the vintage ribbon she used as well, and how she placed it. Just precious!
And this next one is amazing! Who wouldn't be thrilled to receive this in the mail >>>

The adorable little girl with the large flower, all the layering and textures Cindy uses, and I just love those smooth gems that are scattered aroud the card - all of these elements add up to on gorgeous card!

And lastly, this card wasn't in my plans to post on here today, but it was just up on her blog this morning, and it's cute as can be! Don't you agree? >>>

All those layers and textures and stripes and dots ad checks and everything just pop, and match so well with the cute cat stamp she used. I love it!

That's it from me for today, so it's on to reading more blogs to see what I can share with you next. Everyone have a blessed week! Becky

Perfectly Classy.

I thought I would give you all chance to take a peek at a blog I often look at for Inspiration. This blog belongs to Adele, who is an amazing person with two lovely young children - one of whom has Downs Syndrome.

I know Adele says she has been featured on the Inspirational site before, but I reckon her work is still worth acknowledging... Enjoy!

This card is just so pretty. I love how the patterns and colours come together.
There is such an eye for detail on all of Adele's work, I'm sure you'll all agree.
I absolutely fell in love with these two cards..

Chris' Fantastic Blog.

I was stumbling around blogs, as you do, when I came upon a post that featured cards entered into a sketch challenge. Even from the small thumbnail picture, I knew the card was fantastic. So I clicked on the name below it and WOW! I was taken straight to a wonderland of fantastic and stunning work.

The creator of this blog is a lady called Chris and the name of her blog is Sketching Stamper. Skye MJ

I came across this ladies blog a few days ago, and I love how she creates her layouts.

There is quite a lot on the pages but the pages never seem to be "busy", and everytime you look you see something new!

Pop by her blog Skye MJ and say hi!

Fat Orange Cat Inspires Me.

Ok if you read your blogs in Reader you may know about this, blogs that when you see they have posts you get a little excited. Sit up straight. Get ready for some serious, get off your butt and make something inspiration. You know the ones? Well for me right now it's all about Fat Orange Cat.
Look at some of these sewing projects. As if applique guitars wasn't enough, look at this vintage feel lining! (and hot model, I need some hot models for my stuff)
Then there is this adorable apron. With a star on it! Don't feel the guitars and stars? No fear, she's got tons of these, with tons of patterns, atomic looking ones, doggies, all sorts. :)
Then there is this bag. I LOVE this bag. It's so not big enough for me with all the crap I have to carry but I dream of some day not having to carry diapers and extra toys and snacks and so on and instead carrying this super perfect bag. (Karyn makes them in a bunch of colors)
Oh look! Chicken print inside! This actually DIRECTLY inspires me to make bags that are solid or muted on the outside then just go funky on the inside. This bag has also inspired the several yards of corduroy I currently own.
There is more! She makes baby bibs too. It's all darling just like these. I love the funky look. Swoon~~
Thanks Karyn for letting me share your blog and your work here.
