I'll never forget the first time I happened upon the blog of 6 Wacky Women. They are a group of friends that together, make up an amazing, talented circle of artists, each one delivering her own special talent to the mix. What I'm sharing with you today I'll title, Karen's Pergamano. Take a look at this first snowflake. I remember saying out loud to my computer..."Oh My Goodness". Have you ever seen anything more delicate or beautiful?
This is called Pergamano or parchment paper craft. I have read that Spanish nuns created this craft sometime during the 16th. century. On my list of things to do, this is definitely number one.
This technique is used mostly for greeting cards but can be used in so many ways I won't even try to name them. Take a close look at the tiny details in each pattern. I can't wait to get the tools to give this a try.
I read somewhere that this is also called "fine embroidery". If you are in a hurry, I would suggest you try something else. Some patterns can take many hours to complete.
I encourage everyone that happens upon this feature to take a trip to Canada ( by blog of course), and check out this amazing art. Every card, quilt, book marker, and ornament are pure perfection. Karen doesn't just throw anything together...she CREATES. When I log on to my pc everyday this is usually my first stop. Be sure and read every post. Believe me..what you see is definitely not what you get (there is so much more and she shares that with everyone). The many layers of each creation is awesome. I hope you all enjoy this blog as much as I do. Thank you 6 Wacky Women , for sharing such talent with the world. Personally, I can't wait to see your post for today.
